ASSESSMENT

Easy Expression offers comprehensive assessments, which may include an initial interview or parent interview (when applicable), standardized testing, informal assessments, and recommended goals and objectives. A variety of tests are carefully chosen based on areas of concern. This allows us to identify strengths and weaknesses and determine appropriate goals. Goals are continually assessed and modified based on performance throughout therapy.

INDIVIDUAL SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY

Our skilled speech and language pathologists provide 30, 45, or 60 minute individual speech and language sessions to target a variety of skills. During this time, clients have the opportunity to work on their goals and learn strategies to enhance their skills. When applicable, we believe in the importance of family involvement and provide weekly homework and communication to facilitate carry-over of skills. We strongly believe in a team approach and consult with parents, teachers, physical and occupational therapists, psychologists, and other professionals in the therapy process.

ACCENT MODIFICATION

Accents are not considered speech disorders. A person may choose to reduce his/her accent by changing pronunciation of sounds. We utilize the evidence-based Compton PESL Method. Our course consists of an initial assessment and analysis of speech. This will guide the practitioner in creating an individualized program. Each session will take place over the course of an hour, and clients will meet with their consultant for 13 weeks. Once the program is completed, a post assessment will be conducted to compare pre- and post data.

PARENT COACHING AND EDUCATIONAL

 CONSULTATION

Easy Expression provides coaching and training for parents and caregivers, which includes  strategies and techniques to facilitate speech and language development. We also offer educational consults with parents, teachers, and school systems to explain modifications, learning strategies, and/or accommodations that can be added to a child's academic regimen to promote learning and generalization. Easy Expression also gives families guidance throughout the IEP process and can assist with advocating for children and families.

Social skill groups

Our social skills groups runs during the fall, spring, and summer semesters and are led by two speech and language pathologists. Each week different social skills are targeted, including conversational strategies, social awareness, problem-solving, perspective taking, resolving conflicts, compromising, and positive self-talk. Each session will be tailored and developmentally appropriate for the children in the group. Activities are motivating, engaging, and interactive. Our group size is capped at six to ensure individualized attention and trust-building within the group. Before enrollment we offer a free phone consultation with the parent/caregiver, followed by a virtual consultation with your child to determine appropriate placement. Weekly emails will be sent home to ensure carry over and generalization of skills.

*Members are grouped according to age and ability. We offer this service to anyone ages 6-21 years old.*

The Orton-Gillingham Reading Approach

Our speech and language pathologists provide literacy intervention and are trained in the Orton-Gillingham Reading Program. Orton-Gillingham is an explicit, systematic, sequential, and multi-sensory approach to teach literacy to children who are struggling to learn to read.  This approach teaches children how to read and spell, by breaking down these tasks into smaller, more manageable tasks, that build on one another. The program is highly individualized and children do not advance to the next level until mastery is achieved.  This multi-sensory approach integrates hearing, sight, touch, and movement intro instruction to help students understand the connection between letters, sounds, and words.

We are passionate about working with families and school faculty to provide additional ways to support children at home and in school. We tailor these workshops to the ages of the students and needs of your families. Below are sample topics:
